Sustainable Pouches Give ECOS the Ability to Sample

THE CHALLENGE

ECOS offers eco-conscious cleaning products made with safer ingredients. To share samples of its new sustainable detergent sheets the sales team needed new packaging. Its current cardboard packaging wasn’t sample size and wasn’t convenient for handing out at an upcoming trade show. The ECOS team sought a sustainable packaging solution that was convenient to open and easy to share with show attendees.

THE SOLUTION

The JBM Packaging team went right to work. To ensure the packaging was sustainable, the team used JBM’s proprietary Eco 30 Paper, made with 30 percent post-consumer waste. The design team also developed an open-ended pouch with a water-based latex closure for easy sampling. Using its high-quality paper, sustainable soy-based inks, and advanced printing capabilities, JBM brought the company’s vibrant brand colors to life, so the packaging was recognizable and memorable.

THE RESULTS

By partnering with JBM, ECOS was able to fulfill its sustainable packaging needs with a recyclable and biodegradable option that was the perfect size for sampling. JBM also took over the difficult task of filling the product inside the sustainable pouches so they could be delivered to the show on time. Due to the unique flexibility of the laundry sheet product, it wasn’t an easy task. However, JBM combined manual hand-filling with the use of high-end filling machines to fill 7,500 envelopes within less than 15 days.
